0歳児からの読書、六つの手助け

ほぼ一ヶ月ぶりにストーリータイムに行ったらば、新しいボード"Six skills your child needs to learn to read starting from birth!"が立てられていました。お遊戯も少し変わっていましたし、図書館の新しい担当者を紹介したりして、変化の秋？ボードの方では、親ができることとしては次のように書かれていました。言語を問わず、読み聞かせる時に意識してみると、また新たな面白さが生れてくるかもしれません。

• Print Motivation; is a child’s interest in and enjoyment of books.
• Print Awareness; is noticing print, knowing how to handle a book, and how we follow the written word on a page.
• Phonological Awareness; is the ability to hear and play with the smaller sounds in words.
• Narrative Skills; is the ability to describe things and events and to tell stories.
• Letter Knowledge; is knowing the same letter can look different, that letters have names and are related to sounds.
• Vocabulary; is knowing the names of things.
